Found system running at arrival. Filter is clean. Blower motor running. Both zone dampers open. Compressor and fan motor both running. Compressor has bad valves system takes a while to try to pump down indicate problem with compressor. System only has 6 degree difference 80 and 86 between supply and return.

Arrived to inspect the downstairs cooling system after a report that it was not working properly. At time of service, the system was operational. However, the outdoor unit’s condenser coil was heavily impacted with dirt and debris, which was restricting performance. With customer approval, the coil was thoroughly cleaned to help restore proper operation and efficiency. While testing, I observed that both zones were calling and the system was running, but the existing zone control setup is using spring-loaded dampers that do not fully shut off airflow between floors. This may lead to uneven temperatures and reduced comfort, especially when only one area of the home is calling for cooling. Based on system behavior and current configuration, I provided recommendations to upgrade the zone control system to a fully programmable board with powered dampers, install a bypass duct for improved airflow balance, and replace the existing transformer to ensure consistent zone function. Airex line set cover. Cut down plastic line set cover close to wall. Move ac back. Moved ac were home owner wanted. Ac is a little close to wall and fence, but coil can still breath. Small kink in line set, but not bad enough to hurt anything. Quoted super boost just in case ac gets a little too noisy on start up.

Perform evaporator change out today, removed the old evaporator coil installed the new one under warranty. I vacuumed the system down to 500 µm and properly charge the system to manufacturer specs.

Service call Make all repairs necessary to restore the unit to full health and eliminate all other concerns. Replaced weak blower capacitor. Cleaned out drain line that was stopped up. Added in-line float had minimum flood protection. There was no wet switch quoted. Refrigerant levels checked good. Temperature difference was good. Tested in heat and air. Heat exchanger checked out OK. At this time, the system is running correctly.

No cool upstairs. Found system to have water in pan. Customer had removed prior to my visit. Located leak in evap coil, weak run capacitor, dirty blower wheel, minimal flood protection, compressor hits LRA occasionally turning on, weak dual capacitor, dirty ac, pumped drain to verify no clogs and compressor terminal kit is damaged due to over amperage causing it to melt. Recommended replacement of unit. Hodge scheduled to come out between 2-5 today.

Trevor and Yates worked hard and were very professional while performing the installation of the receptacles, the whole house surge protector, and the two ceiling fans. They stayed late to finish so they wouldn't disrupt our schedule on Tuesday. I was pleasantly surprised that they finished everything in one day.
