Replace failed contactor inside the air handler system that help control the electric heat strips. Installed new double pull contactor in air handler, tested electric heat strip by themselves, tested normal heating operations, and monitored systems operations. System is operating properly at this time. Recommended adding wet switch to system for added water safety to help avoid water damage in the result of improper operations.

Performed a Homecare inspection.

Upon arrival the homeowner had informed me that they had tried to turn on the heat and the system then stopped and then the a/c wouldn’t come back on either. When inspecting the equipment I had found that the contactor located inside the air handler has failed and is popping the fuse as the electric heat strip are told to turn on. As temporary solution I then detached the auxiliary heat terminal to no longer try to energize the heat strips and went further into equipment to ensure temporary will be a viable option. After performing the rest of the inspection the heat pump will be able to maintain a comfortable temperature but as outdoor temperatures lower further into the winter the heat pump will begin to struggle without the auxiliary heat to help. Due to system reaching 8 years old i highly recommend considering replacing the equipment for better efficiency and effectiveness. 20x20x5 filter had been extremely clogged and had been replaced in 2022. Put a 20x20x1 filter as a temp
