HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

Today is I arrived. It was explained to me that after a storm the oven in the kitchen would not work anymore. It was also explained to me that there were some outlets throughout the house that were not working. Power was working good on the breaker going to the oven coming from the electrical panel. The wire going into the oven itself also had good power on it. I did find an open splice above the oven. I’ve attached an estimate to put a junction box over that splice for safety. The oven itself must be defective. I checked all of the outlets throughout the house that she said there was no power on and only found one outside the front door that was not working. After checking all of the adjoining rooms around that outlet I found no wires that were not working that can be feeding that outlet. I’ve attached an estimate to install a new receptacle in the front porch area. It was very nice meeting you today! If you have any questions about the estimates, I’ve left or need anything else in th

Main level - System & Duct work inspection Came out today to perform a full assessment of the main level equipment and ductwork. This is a 14-year-old gas furnace paired with a six year-old AC and coil. The system is currently only making a 13–14° temperature split between the supply and return, this is low compared to a properly operating system making between 19 - 22° temperature split. The evaporator coil was not properly sized or installed when the previous owners had it replaced. The condenser coil is dirty, compressor is over amping, and the system is low on refrigerant. The furnace has a lot of dirt build up, the blower wheel is heavily impacted with debris, the heat exchanger has multiple cracks, hot spots, and metal fatigue in it. The high limit switch was blackened and the insulation partially burnt from over heating. The blower motor is seeping oil at the main seal and debris are caked onto the motor around the seal. The duct work is mostly hard pipe and has several crushed

Today, we returned to complete the installation of a new 1/2" gas service line supplying the exterior backyard stove/grill. Upon previous inspection, it was determined that the existing gas line had failed due to possible corrosion and inadequate gas supply, resulting in an insufficient gas supply to the appliance. To correct this issue, we installed a new 1-1/4" tee at the primary gas service line and reduced the piping to 3/4", then to 1/2" closer to the appliance location. We removed approximately 70 feet of existing 1/2" black iron gas piping that had been improperly branched from the furnace line after it had already been reduced in size. The newly installed gas line was securely supported using roofing blocks and coated for protection against weather exposure and outdoor conditions. We also installed two emergency shut-off valves: one located within the crawlspace and one directly beneath the exterior stove for safety and serviceability. Upon completion of the installation, al

They pulled the drain lines out and had them in a bucket. I tested the drain and confirmed it is clogged. The hub drain and basement bathroom are tied to an ejector pump. I tested and confirmed the pump is functioning. I was able to clear the blockage in the hub drain, tested and confirmed flow. I provided a bottle of Endure for assisting with maintenance. I also referred them to Property Medics to assist with remediation. Perform hub drain clearing with cable machine. Clear drain only. Does not include repairs or main line clearing. Demarco had prepared for the job by reviewing his notes from last year. When he arrived, we went over the whole list and discussed the auto shutoff monitor in depth because of its criticality and usefulness. We decided to have it installed. Otherwise, we discussed the hose Bibb shutoffs so they could be rerouted to make them accessible without me doing contortions to reach them. He also recommended flushing the water tank and cautioned that it is recommended to be done annually - and that it is discounted due to our whole home maintenance policy with TE. The whole service call was well done and was done without me having to rearrange my entire storage area to do! Great Job!

I have used TE Certified on numerous occasions for both electrical and plumbing. Today, Chris Weiland was assigned to me for a camera inspection of my sewer line. He was very helpful in determining all the connections underground and their depth which I need for anticipated landscaping. He also identified several areas of PVC separation underground which is new and will require regular inspections in the future. Chris also inspected various other areas including a sewer line in my crawl space and the main water line coming into the house. He is experienced and gave me good advice. Plumbing is not something you put in and forget. It does require occasional observation and corrections as needed. I felt Chris was exceptional and would gladly have him return in the future,

Vinny with TE Electric deserves an award or a raise or a bonus or all of the above. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND to figure out why half our house was out of power (including the AC during 90* days). He arrived after hours, staying late the first night to troubleshoot. Then he showed up first thing the next day to begin resolution, returning later the same evening to finish the job. He had great communication and went to extra measures to get us back up and running. Bravo, Vinny.
