HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

Removed and replaced two defective GFCI receptacles to restore safe and reliable operation. Also removed and replaced one outdoor GFCI receptacle, installed a new weatherproof electrical box, and fitted a new in-use bubble cover to provide proper weather protection and ensure code-compliant outdoor electrical service. All newly installed devices were tested after installation and verified to be operating correctly. Also performed troubleshooting on the electric water heater due to a reported loss of power. During diagnosis, it was determined that the breaker initially believed to supply the water heater was incorrect. The actual water heater breaker was located in the home's subpanel and was found in the OFF position. The electrical connection at the water heater was disconnected to isolate the appliance from the branch circuit, and the breaker was turned on. Proper supply voltage was verified at the water heater, confirming the branch circuit was functioning correctly. After reconnec

Water Leak- 2023 Carrier System Arrived and found water in the pan. TE was just out a few days ago for a similar issue. Previous technician found the cap for the clean out off of the drain. I inspected the drain again and tested with water. Found no signs of leaks from drain. There are water marks on the side of the unit and water on the ductwork that runs beside the air handler. The water was found to be coming from the supply plenum. The top of the plenum is soaked with water due to the duct work going to the second floor not being insulated and condensation forming. This issue is amplified by the fact that the system is an inverter system that dehumidifies, causing the ductwork to get very cold. The house was built in the 60s and it was very common for ductwork between floors to not be insulated. In the attic the ductwork is insulated, but only from the ceiling up in the attic. Air handler also significant amounts of biological activity inside. Best option would be to remove part

Found the main-floor/basement two-zone Rheem heat pump system with outdoor unit Model RP1636AJ2NA, Serial No. W212030928, to have a malfunctioning outdoor condenser fan motor. Verified approximately 240 VAC supply and 24 VAC control signal were present at the electronically commutated motor (ECM). The motor attempted to operate, with amperage fluctuating from approximately 1.90 amps downward while the fan gradually slowed to a complete stop. The compressor continued operating during the failure. Diagnostic testing indicates an internal failure of the outdoor ECM condenser fan motor. The outdoor-unit breaker was turned off to prevent compressor operation without condenser airflow and to protect the system from additional damage. The customer was advised that the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement motor must be ordered and that delivery may take additional time depending on current parts availability. Replacement of the outdoor ECM condenser fan motor is requ

After spending several weeks waiting on another large HVAC company to fix my system, I called TE Certified Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Cooling. They were at my home within 24 hours and got my system running the same day. This is excellent service under any circumstances but especially considering the fact that the "other company" kept me waiting for several weeks while they located parts and then I had to wait for the part to arrive and then the part I waited on for longer than a week did not fix my system. TE did such great work that I terminated my relationship with the "other company". I am now on an annual service plan with TE Certified. The tech I worked with is Andrew and he was phenomenal from start to finish. He called when he was on his way to my home; when he had to leave my home to drive and pick up a part, he called me when he was on his way back to give me an ETA. Andrew repaired my system and, on a very hot July day in Atlanta, he got my system back up and running. I couldn't be happier. Thank you, TE!!!!

I've never bought a water heater before. Halfway through installation the technician, Nick, tells me that the job won't pass inspection without an electrical shut off in the crawlspace. He said he is not an electrician and can't do that part. I thought everything needed to complete the job was in the estimate. Now I need to spend more money unexpectedly. All of this information would have been helpful up front.
