HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

came out because the customer was concerned about his unit having issues because water had gotten into his air ducts. After diagnosing the system. I found that that two ducts were compromised. One in the main floors bathroom and one in the room that shares the wall with the bathroom. We will meet to replace one 8” duct and one 6” duct. I would also like to add UV protection to prevent any biological growth building up in the system and i’d also like to get the customers signed up on a regular maintenance plan. The system itself is running according to specifications. The customer was also concerned about a loud noise coming from a the return in his guest bedroom. Ii took a look in the attic and found that the 10” duct run was way to short causing that loud noise as the air is moving through that duct to quickly. We will need to replace that duct as well.

Customer was getting errors on their nest thermostat that the system was dropping temperature despite calling for heat. Found that the upstairs level thermostat was a heat pump unit with an air handler and this thermostat was set to dual fuel. I reset this to a single fuel system and ensure that the unit is turning on properly. This setting was not allowing the outdoor unit to come on with auxiliary heat. No other failures at this time. Customer signed up for our maintenance plan.

Customer called us out for basement toilet not flushing and not hearing the sewage ejector pump come on. On arrival I checked out the sewage ejector pump and it was making a soft hum. Based on the age being at least 17 years old I recommended replacing the pump, lid and ball check combo with having to cut open the wall to get to it. Customer agreed. I got the supplies I needed and removed the drywall. I then removed the old pump and replaced it with the new one. I reset the lid and hooked up the piping. Then tested and cleaned throughly.

For this job, I did elite troubleshoot for homeowner who is out of town. I met with his father-in-law upon reaching the property. I pulled the lid to the meter and observed that there was no movement as far as an indication of a leak still I isolated the water main service between the meter and the home and observe the meter for a period of time to be sure the meter numbers never moved. There was no sign of water in the yard when I got there. I also helped the homeowners father-in-law discover the location of the irrigation main shut off, which we isolated as far as this investigation goes there was no sign of a leak on the main service.

Upon arrival found that the heater in the attic was not up to code due to the burner assembly being in an open chamber, that could potentially could be a fire hazard due to the attic insulation. Advised homeowner that it would be unwise to replace just the gas control valve and to leave the heater up in the attic. Gave the homeowner options for removing the heater and installing a tankless water heater. Homeowner agreed and work was started. Began by shutting off water to the home and draining the system. Also advised homeowner that we were going to be replacing the PRV due to it being located in the incorrect spot on the water lines. When system was rain installed new PRV and can you stream labs smart shut off. Removed old 75 gas water heater and install new Rheem non-condensing tankless water heater in the attic. Tech believes there could be a potential leak but would need to verify. Tech would need to perform an isolation test on condenser. Also condenser fan motor is failing.
