HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

The homeowner wanted to replace the master bathroom toilets and the upstairs guest bath toilet. I installed two brand new Kohler Highline Arc toilets, which are the extra tall version, as requested by the homeowner. I also replaced the shut-off valves for both toilets. In addition, I replaced the guest bath sink strainer and pop-up assembly, as well as the master bath sink strainer and pop-up assembly. I replaced the pressure regulator for the home due to it being low and set the new pressure to 65 psi and replace the main shut-off valve as a courtesy since we were doing the regulator The kitchen sink was experiencing low water pressure, so I replaced the aerator as a courtesy. After completing these tasks, I tested everything and checked for leaks, and everything was working fine.

I arrived to the customers home and their cleanout was backed up with sewage leaking into the yard. I ran a drain machine to give the customer temporary sewer flow. I ran a camera inspection to find what appeared to be tree roots and a crushed section of piping I could not push my camera past. I located the obstruction underneath the sidewalk and recommended the customer contact Atlanta county watershed department. I attempted to reach out to them but was on hold for an hour. The customer can contact TE Certified if the county will not assist for us to do the work. A rough ballpark price of $15000 was provided and can be exactly calculated. I will follow up with the customer Monday.

Tech arrived to problem call for upstairs system. Three systems in home, upstairs system is of concern today. Other systems are not. Customer had error code saying that system heat strips were running for too long. This was dated during the cold weather on Monday. Checked EcoBee settings and settings had outdoor compressor turning off below 35 outdoor ambient which will only have heat strips operational. Turned setting down to roughly 20 degrees for compressor and left aux heat temp alone. Verified heat strips were operational. System lacks adequate water protection. No mechanical issues were detected inside. Filter was in good shape at this time. Checked outdoor unit operations. Refrigerant pressures in heating mode were within specs. Verified defrost was operational in test mode. No mechanical issues noticed on todays visit. Gathered all equipment info on all three systems. System is operational and heating/cooling at techs departure. Thank you for letting TE CERTIFIED service your

Came out today to perform three system HVAC home care. Upon inspection of the upstairs system found drain line is currently holding water due to slope of drain. The indoor system is currently heating and cooling properly. Changed out filter. The system has no UV protection and it does not have TE standard flood protection. Also upon inspection of the other system in the attic found no UV protection no TE standard flood protection and the drain line does not currently have enough fall causing it to hold water. This system is also operating properly in both heat and cool. Upon inspection of the downstairs system found heat pump and the thermostat had auxiliary program to run all the time and no heat pump. Change filter the system currently has no UV protection or TE standard flood protection. At this time, all systems are currently working properly and customer is aware of all concerns.

My technician, Gary Heard, did a great job identifying and then repairing an exterior outlet at my house that had gone bad. Because the previous electrician, who installed the outlet, had not identified the breaker controlling the outlet, Gary first had to figure where the power source was before he could conduct repairs. Throughout the process he kept me informed on what was required and what the cost would be. In the end my outlet was repaired and there was no cost shock. Gary is very personable and knowledgeable. I would strongly recommend him for any electrical work i need at my house
