HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

Today I came out due to system not cooling. System is a 2009 Bryant furnace located in basement servicing whole home. Upon arrival thermostat was turned off. Turned it on AC mode and indoor unit came on but not the outdoor unit. Reason was a bad capacitor. It’s rated for 45/5MFD +/- 6% and its actual readings were 0/0. Swapped out capacitor and system kicked on. I inspected everything else and found several concerning issues. There is biological growth all over evaporator coils and outside of evaporator door. There are several cracks in the heat exchanger get and even more areas where it’s going to crack even more. Burners are rusted out, flame sensor and Ignitor have heavy carbon build up. There is no secondary drain pan underneath unit and no flood protection. Blower wheel is heavily impacted with dust and debris on fan blades. Compressor is struggling to keep up. Contactor on the outdoor unit is heavily pitted. After going over all findings and options, customer has agreed for a pro

Performed 1 system diagnostic on system that serves whole home. Found unit low on charge, broken and failed disconnect, low R22 charge, dirty blower, blower motor dirty however unit is not serviceable due to being too close to the wall, furnace is 12 years old, ac and coil is 24 years old. Due to age of system and type of refrigerant . Recommend replacement only. There are no repair options. As well as to relocated unit so it is in a more Serviceable location. Based on our findings today, it might be time to think about getting a brand new system.

Homeowner called us out to investigate possible water loss, at foundation wall. After exposing the area, I found a section of failed copper piping from the exterior leading into the interior of the home at the penetration wall. We replaced the PRV, main shut off, irrigation shut off and main waterline via bore. We dug at the meter, where we found another failed section piping, and at the penetration of the home. Everything was cleaned and tested all as well. There is no evidence of further water loss at this time. Pressure set to 65psi

No Cool- 2022 Carrier Main floor system was not cooling when I arrived. Thermostat was reading 80° and indoor unit was running. Noticed water in the pan. Checked the outside unit and noticed oil on top of the unit and underneath. Lots of oil inside on the refrigerant lines. Performed a leak check and the factory aluminum/copper connection has failed and all the refrigerant has leaked out. Brought my findings to the customer and customer agreed to replace the coil. Coil is under manufacturer warranty. Charges are for labor and refrigerant. Customer would also like to have his HomeCare completed on the day of the main floor repair. Supply house was closed when the issue was found. I will check on part availability tomorrow and schedule repairs. Shooting for Monday on repairs of part is available.

Arrived at the property and spoke with the homeowner, who stated they have lived in the home for approximately five years. The homeowner mentioned experiencing a similar issue in the past, although that incident was related to the washing machine. Today, the homeowner reported waking up and noticing water dripping from the living room ceiling. A leak diagnostic was performed, which required cutting access openings in the sheetrock ceiling to expose the plumbing. The homeowner was informed and acknowledged that TE Certified is not responsible for sheetrock repairs or replacement. Due to the way water travels and collects at the lowest point, the initial area where water was dripping did not contain any plumbing. A second saturated area was identified closer to the front door, and an additional access opening was made. Upon inspection, we found two 1/2" hot and cold water service lines supplying both the washing machine and the utility faucet located directly above. No leaks were found

Customer called us out for a clog g in the same bathroom in the basement. I inspected the sewage ejector pump closer and found that the sewage was getting stopped by a pipe that was to close. I recommended repiping the ejector to provide more space for the sewage leaving the bathroom grouping. Customer agreed. I got the supplies I would need. I removed the lid, cut the parts of the pipe that I wouldn’t need out, rotated where the pump was, reinstalled the lid and gasket, screwed them down, put in the new check valve ball valve combo, built the vent up, rerouted the discharge line, put all gaskets around the pipes and wire, tested everything and cleaned up.
