HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Emergency Atlanta Plumbing Service Company

Our residential plumbing services include:

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

Replaced washer box due to failed shutoff valve. Lines ran in 5/8 soft copper. Had to use existing compression fittings. Advised customer it was best to run new lines to the washer box to ensure a connection that could be warrantied. Customer elected to just do the washer box without running new lines. Box was replaced and customer was advised that there was no warranty on the repair. Left quote for a water heater due to age and multiple code violations.

For this job the customer was wanting to know if they had enough space in the generator sub panel to add an A/C circuit, they did not have enough so she wanted to free up some space and take 4 circuits off the generator sub panel to make room for 2 a/c units so we moved those 4 circuits back over to the main panel. We installed 3 whole home surge protectors with new breakers and we saw that there were 10 wrong breakers installed among the 4 panels installed. We will be changing those out to the right breakers for the customer.

John resolved our reported issue very quickly and then checked an outlet that we suspected needed to be tightened up. He recommended that he replace it because it was probably not installed correctly, and that’s why it became loose. He was correct and he installed a new outlet in a plastic box, as it should have been initially. It’s nice and tight now. Great job of assessing, confirming and fixing!

TE Certified responded immediately to our cry for help when the water line into our HOA burst at the end of the day. Our five homes were without water which poured down the street at full force. Luckily, Brandon and Corey were only minutes away. They immediately cut off the water at the city meter, then assessed the cause of the break and needed repairs. First thing the next day they came out with the tools and parts required, and made the repairs, which required a good six hours. By early evening, water was restored, and the technicians reinforced the new backflow preventer with copper and cement to ensure the integrity of the work. The team was extremely polite and clearly communicated the repair requirements with the HOA President.

Good afternoon, This review is related to a customer service call made at my residence on November 28, 2025. The concern involved 4 new ceiling fans that were installed recently by one of your service personnel. Two of the fans installed were inoperable and not functioning. The technician who installed the fans initially made the service call. Apparently the fans needed to be paired which was causing the malfunction. The service call was $149.00. I thought that this was poor customer service and was totally inappropriate. Really don’t know what caused the issue, but this was a follow-up service call from a recent installation and could have been handled in a more professional way. I paid the technician to show my loyalty as being a good customer But after thinking about this situation, felt that your management team should know about this. Appreciate immediate action be addressed toward my concern. Thanks for your support.
