HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Emergency Atlanta Plumbing Service Company

Our residential plumbing services include:

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

TE Certified is not responsible for and plants to removed or saved for sewer repair. Installation: Excavated down 6’ by hand to the damaged section of the drain line. Discovered the obstruction was cause by a cave in from the 6” terra-cotta clay piping. Replaced section of pipe with new 6” pvc. Tested work thoroughly, ensuring no leaks and drainage. Discovered another break further down the line towards the street, and I informed the customer that the break could possibly lead to the same issue.

Customer stated that his 12 year old tankless water heater in the crawlspace had stopped working several days ago but had seemed to work ever since. We let the unit run and after roughly 5 minutes it displayed a code 10. When existed the crawlspace to inspect the vent and found a large leaf from a Japanese Aralia covering the vent. We removed the leaf and ran the hot water for 30 minutes and the unit did not display another code. We discussed that since the unit has not been serviced in recent years, that it is likely nearing the end of its life expectancy. We have provided a quote for replacing the unit with a Navien 240-A2 with a built in recirculation pump.

Test system not heating for the main level of the home. Found that the furnace was in a lockout from a failed ignition. Reset the furnace in the system fired up immediately with no issues. I tested and checked the flame center along with the igniter electrode and found no issues with this. When I opened up the panel, I smelled gas coming from the gas valve itself. Found that this gas valve is leaking small amount of gas. Also, there was water buildup inside the top section of the unit which is caused by a poorly installed flue pipe. There is lots of leaking connections on that flue pipe. When the inducer starts up, it makes a noise and it is also over amp , which could cause failure. We inspected the changer and found that it is in poor condition and lots of rusting out along with heat spots. Based on our findings at this time and the price of repairs may be time to think about replacing the furnace.

I was amazed at the work Vincent did today! The gas company upgraded our 30-year-old meter and informed us that we had a leak they could not find. They left late on a cold evening with our gas shutoff. Vincent came early the next morning and identified the location of the leak, an old iron gas pipe that had been run outdoors in the ground by work our home's previous owner had done. Vincent added a shutoff valve that should have been there and got our gas turned back on. He also gave us a plan for replacing the gas line which runs to a grill correctly the way it should have been done by the previous owner some 20 years ago. We are really happy with the work Vincent has done.
