HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

TE certified will be doing a water and drain re-pipe for a single bathroom group, leaving majority of the waterlines under the crawlspace, but replacing all of the accessible cast-iron before it goes up to the sub flooring. The exception would be a toilet flange. The work performed by TE certified will come with a lifetime workmanship warranty. Installation: TE Certified replaced all the drains and water for the hallway bath. For the cast iron we replaced all the accessible cast from the crawlspace with new pvc and went through the floor with a new flange. For the water lines we went through the floor with pex and provided new stops and supply lines. Tested everything thoroughly ensuring no leaks and proper drainage. Cleaned up work area. Note: Toilet has a slight lean due to the floors rotting. We secured the new flange on a new piece of ply wood. The customer was made aware of the floor condition before installation.

Upon arrival, we met with the owner. They recently found their master bathroom backing up between the shower and toilet. The rest of the house is functioning. There is a crawlspace just under the master bathroom where the drains are all PVC. We tested and found the lav drain is also affected and is the last tie in. With footage from the owner, we found the PVC goes to the basement ceiling and ties into cast iron. We pulled the toilet, ran a cable and found the blockage close to the PVC/cast iron transition. We ran water to test. We also found the PVC flange was broken. I installed a repair ring, secured to the subfloor and sealed between the original flange. Reset the toilet with a new wax ring, closet bolts and supply, tested and confirmed no leaks or errors at this time. Shut off water supply to fixture, remove all fluid from fixture, remove china caps and bolts from fixture, pull water closet from base, clean flange and inspect for damage, perform drain clearing operation using s

Came out today to perform one system $59 inspection. Upon arrival, customer stated that everything was working properly. Upon inspection of the system found a Rheem gas furnace from 2015 100,000 BTU paired with a 2 1/2 ton Goodman straight AC from 2012. Upon inspection of the furnace found the heat exchanger to be rusty, the indoor coil was very dirty had rust spots and biological growth, the blower wheel was dirty. The duct work was not properly sized had major leaks all throughout, the supply and return Plenum was in poor shape, when ran and heat the system was going out on high limit. Upon inspection of the outdoor system found that it was an R 22 system and was a little low on refrigerant, the capacitor and contactor had failed, and the capacitor was wired up backwards, making the outdoor fan spin in reverse and trap all the heat inside the condenser coil. At this time, customer would like to receive a quote to replace the system, see estimates for any further concerns

Upon arrival, met with customer and spoke with him regarding their issue. Customer is experiencing a slight sewer gas smell coming from an air return grill in the hallway on the main level of the home. The air return is directly connected to a furnace in the basement mechanical room. Inside this room there is a hub drain for the furnace condensation lines and it connects to a cast iron stack. When I arrived the p trap for the hub drain had wood blocks underneath it that were tilting it towards the cast iron stack. This could potentially have caused the trap seal to break and allow sewer gas through. There could also be a small chip or crack in the cast iron but I am unable to get close to inspect it due to difficult access. Spoke with the customer regarding the causes for this issue and recommended our Endure drain maintenance product to help with smell. Customer has his own Enzyme product already. Also removed wood blocking under the p trap to help level it out and keep a proper trap
