HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

Today’s service I performed multiple pinhole leaks throughout the basement that were repaired and also added a main shut off inside of the home that isolates to their unit rather than having to turn the water off from the outside. I also replace their icemaker valve for the refrigerator that was leaking and causing water damage. I advised to Terry and Amy that the PRV that is outside worthy main shut off for their complex is located needs to be replaced or it is showing high-pressure readings. They are aware that they need to let them know to bring the pressure back down.

Arrived on site to troubleshoot a master closet with water dripping out of a supply vent. They noticed the water concerns and called us out to address. I was able to trace the water back to the laundry room drain where the upstairs HVAC drains tie into the washing machine drain. The entire reservoir was full and overflowing. Neither of the hvac systems in the attic were affected by the drainage issues, but there is a considerable amount of damage to the closet ceiling and remediation company is highly recommended to be looped in to avoid health risks and ongoing moisture issues. I removed the washing machine drain from the main laundry room drain and it immediately cleared the drain. There was almost a foot and a half of corrugated tubing down in the drain that blocked up the drain. Tons of buildup has accumulated onto the tubing and closed off the drain all together. I cut over a foot of the drain off to avoid this blockage again. We poured gallons and gallons of water down into the d

For this job, I completed a two system inspection. For the upstairs system, it is a Goodman that was recently installed. I proceeded to check all the electrical components and did notice that the system was properly working at the moment. Then proceeded to check the main level system. It is a carrier unit that’s from 2015. Although the system is properly working in heat and cool, I did stress to the customer that the heat exchanger is rusted and deteriorated. I cleared both drain lines with 2 gallons of water and vinegar and tested all electrical components. Filter sizes for units : Upstairs : 14 x 25 x 1 Main level : 15.7 x 27 x 4 ( 2 of them. )

Upstairs system , hat pump) is freezing over. System was off. Turned back on and inspected system. Found system low on Freon and leaking in the evaporator coil. System is 9 years old, 2 zones. Called supply house (Lennox) but they don’t have coil available. It has to be shipped from other states and will take approximately two weeks to get the coil (410a). Sent estimate to replace coil (not recommend). At this age (9years old) and conditions, the best option would be to upgrade the system, and bring warranty, comfort and efficiency back to the house. Customer wanted me to add Freon (410a) at this time and set a lead to quote upgrading for the upstairs system, for tomorrow afternoon.

I found the low voltage wiring going from indoor unit to outdoor unit was corroded causing weak signal. I ran new thermostat wire, wired thermostat to EEV coil, and furnace to outdoor unit. System is operating and cooling at time of departure.

On this job we replaced various electrical fixtures within the Jack and Jill bathroom. We replaced the bathroom fan, retro fit lights, and switches for the bath fan & lights. We moved the existing sconce light over the sink to center with the future sink bay installment. We confirmed with the customer the location of the sink sconce. We also reinstalled the light since the customer didn’t have the new light fixture at the time of appointment. We completed a thorough walkthrough with the customer and received payment.

For this job, we removed the old gas regulator and 50-gallon gas water heater. The gas regulator had gone bad, which caused the gas control valve and burner assembly to fail. We had to rework the old water lines for the heater and reattach the existing exhaust vent. We installed a thermal expansion tank and secured it to the right-side wall. Finally, we ran new temperature and pressure (T&P) pipe that drains into the mop sink. Hauled away old equipment and tested for leaks and proper operation. Temp set to 120°F per manufacturer recommendation and expansion tank is pressurized to 70psi.

Arrived on site to perform a Homecare. The home has 4 systems. We replaced the main floor unit last month and the basement system was replaced less than a year ago. Both of those systems were cleaned, had new filters and we cleaned the condensate drain / pump for each of those systems. They had flood protection and no faults or failures with either system. The upstairs system had a very dirty blower wheel and a dirty condenser coil. We also discovered the unit doesn’t have flood protection and the capacitor was out of spec. We cleaned the condenser coil and the blower wheel with clients approval. The master bedroom unit as cooling well and recently had a Santa Fe dehumidifier installed and it’s keeping the space at 45 percent humidity which is stellar for this time of year. We tested all operations of each system in heating and cooling. We flushed the drains, changed all filters and completed a comprehensive evaluation of all system functions and operations to ensure it was safe, ef

There’s nobody better than Vinny at his job. I’ve been with Fortune 100 companies for the last 10 years, primarily in customer facing sales and as a people leader - I’ve met guys that are great with people but lack work ethic or skills, I’ve met people that have incredible skills but they’re not trustworthy or lack the ability to build rapport. However you want to slice it, Vinny checks every box and after two days of work at my home I’d hire him 100x over and recommend my friends and family to him directly. Don’t let him leave TE and consider giving him a raise/promotion. Because wherever he goes he’s going to find incredible success.

Demarco had prepared for the job by reviewing his notes from last year. When he arrived, we went over the whole list and discussed the auto shutoff monitor in depth because of its criticality and usefulness. We decided to have it installed. Otherwise, we discussed the hose Bibb shutoffs so they could be rerouted to make them accessible without me doing contortions to reach them. He also recommended flushing the water tank and cautioned that it is recommended to be done annually - and that it is discounted due to our whole home maintenance policy with TE. The whole service call was well done and was done without me having to rearrange my entire storage area to do! Great Job!

I have used TE Certified on numerous occasions for both electrical and plumbing. Today, Chris Weiland was assigned to me for a camera inspection of my sewer line. He was very helpful in determining all the connections underground and their depth which I need for anticipated landscaping. He also identified several areas of PVC separation underground which is new and will require regular inspections in the future. Chris also inspected various other areas including a sewer line in my crawl space and the main water line coming into the house. He is experienced and gave me good advice. Plumbing is not something you put in and forget. It does require occasional observation and corrections as needed. I felt Chris was exceptional and would gladly have him return in the future,
