HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Emergency Atlanta Plumbing Service Company

Our residential plumbing services include:

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Count on TE Certified for plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance services in the Atlanta Area.

Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

System faulting on indoor air temp. It was set for 54. This would cut off y1 signal when supply air temp reached below 54. It was short cycling the unit. The bypass and dampers and duct work design is not ideal. Upstairs zone dampers are in the attic while zone one dampers are by the unit for main floor. The upstairs is shooting straight out of the supply plenum 3 floors before it hots the dampers. A diakin furnace and diakin fir heat pump was recently installed and homeowner says another company installed newer zoning equipment and should be under warranty. Once again the bypass is not responsive. The bypass is also dumping cold conditioned air back into the return from it being a short run. The airflow is affecting system performance. I am recommending scheduling an install supervisor to go over redesign of duct work, zoning placement and installing a diakin fit ac coils to existing furnace.

we came out to investigate an issue with your oven and an outlet not working after you had an issue with the power company dropping the neutral. It looks like that voltage fluctuation burned out your oven as well as a few of your surge protectors. The outlet was actually cracked and also had a very tight space with a metal box so most likely that was already an issue and was not tied into the issue with the power company. We replaced that outlet and my advice is to either call out an appliance company or go ahead and get a new oven. We also noticed that you have a very old out of code panel. The main issues are that the breakers do not match the brand of the panel and several are Challenger breakers, which are not recommended. The main breaker is over 50 years old and if it were to die, you would not be able to replace it and would have to get a new panel. You have double tapped neutrals, which means that there are multiple current conducting wires under one screw, which can cause a l

Upon inspection of the main floor system Found a Goodman gas furnace from 2007 paired with a Bryant straight AC from 2017. upon further inspection, found that the system was very, very low on refrigerant, there was a hole in the heat exchanger, the blower will was dirty, and the capacitor outside was bad. Upon inspection of the second floor system found a Lennox air handler from 2017 paired with a Lennox heat pump from 2017. Pond inspection of the system found that the heat strips were too big for the wire size and the wiring was not up to code, the blower wheel was dirty, there was biological growth on decoy, and on other pieces inside the system, the capacitor outside was weak and the condenser coil was dirty. Inspection of 1 System Main complaint was system being louder than normal. I inspected indoor and found the blower motor while in cool mode was extremely loud. Still present in heating mode, but not as bad. Further inspection found the outdoor coil extremely dirty and impacted. Putting a lot of stress on the equipment. The capacitor for the outdoor unit is also failing and in need of replacement. For the system to be considered somewhat reliable, estimate B should be the main focus or consider replacement.
