HVAC Service FAQs

What is the average cost to replace a home air conditioning unit in Atlanta?

The average cost to install or replace a home air conditioning system in the Atlanta, GA area is around $7,500. The typical range is from $6,500 - $12,500 because the price is determined by a number of factors, including the square footage of your home and SEER rating needed for your specific home. The make, model, size and efficiency rating of the unit chosen are also factors. Last but certainly not least, the brand of the HVAC unit and any extras, including zoning, smart thermostat, etc. have to be factored in.

How much does residential AC repair service cost in Atlanta?

On average, central air conditioning repairs in the Atlanta, GA area cost about $750. The low end could be as little as $150 for a thermostat fix and could go as high as $2,500 for something more complex. How much you should pay for a home AC repair depends almost entirely on what needs to be fixed. A simple fan fix will cost much less than a compressor repair, for instance. A professional HVAC technician will be able to provide you with a more accurate estimate and pricing.

What are the most common problems with residential AC units in Atlanta?

Lack of regular maintenance causes more problems associated with home air conditioning systems in Atlanta than anything else. Another common issue is refrigerant leaks, which can cause the unit to lose its cooling power. Other problems can include electrical issues such as faulty wiring or a malfunctioning thermostat, which can prevent the unit from turning on or properly regulating the temperature. You can avoid most AC problems with regular and seasonal HVAC maintenance because this will address any issues, as soon as they arise, to keep your AC unit running efficiently and avoid costly repairs.

Is it worth fixing a 20-year-old AC unit near Atlanta?

It depends on the specific issues with the unit and the overall condition of the AC unit. Generally, if a 20-year-old AC unit is experiencing major problems such as compressor failure or refrigerant leaks, it may be more cost-effective to replace the unit rather than investing in costly repairs over time. Older units are not as energy-efficient as newer HVAC models, meaning that it costs you more to run the unit. Check your energy bills monthly and ask for advice on the most cost-effective and energy-efficient solution. This will help you determine whether to repair or replace your AC unit.

Why is my air conditioner running but not cooling my Atlanta area home?

The #1 reason your AC unit is not cooling your Atlanta area home is your air filters are dirty. Clogged air filters can restrict airflow, reducing your unit's ability to cool the air in your home. Some other reasons could include low refrigerant which won’t allow the air to cool properly. A malfunctioning thermostat can prevent your AC unit from turning on or regulating the temperature properly. Blocked or dirty condenser coils on the outside unit can become dirty, reducing its ability to dissipate heat. One last thing to check would be a clogged drain line. Your AC drain line can get clogged with mold, mildew, and debris, preventing the unit from properly draining the condensation, which causes the evaporator coil to freeze up and not cool properly.

Homeowners in the Atlanta area often face plumbing problems, even when their homes are relatively new that includes faucet leaks or clogged drains, burst pipe, backed-up sewer lines, or leaking water heater tank that can happen at any time without warning and may require professional help to fix them quickly before they cause more damage than good. Tankless Water Heater Repair & Installation Services

Tankless hot water heaters are a great choice for those who live in tight spaces, such as smaller kitchen or bathroom enclosures.

Compared to tank water heaters, tankless water heater systems offer higher efficiency, lower energy bills, endless hot water, extra space in your home (they don't take up as much space as a tank) and usually longer lifespans (15+ years compared to 10-12 years). In order to save money and energy, a tankless water heater system is the perfect choice.

The installation of this type is much simpler than traditional tanks because there's no need to install plumbing pipes under your sink! TE Certified can help you decide what size would work best with the available room space and power supply near where it'll be installed. Whether indoors near an electric outlet on wall socket/surfaces close enough so that electrical circuits won't become crossed during use, or outside we'll show you the options that you have.

Customer satisfaction is our number one priority, and we want to do everything we can to ensure you and your family stay comfortable all year round.

Call for easy scheduling.

Plumbing FAQs

How do I know if I have a water leak in my Atlanta area home?

If you know where your main water supply is located, turn if off and check the meter. If it is still changing, you know the leak is between your house and outside meter. If there are none inside (and this might seem obvious), then it's likely coming from somewhere else close by - like at least one other faucet or pipe nearby!

A leak is sometimes very obvious; other times you could have a leak for months and not know it. There are a few things to look out for if you suspect a leak in your Atlanta area home:

  • Look at your water bill to see if your usage has gone up with no apparent reason.
  • Any musty smells could indicate a leak that has led to mold/mildew.
  • Any signs of wall, ceiling or floor damage, including stains, warping or bubbling.

Professional plumbers can do a thorough inspection of your home and grounds to determine if you have a water leak.

Customer was experiencing issues where there was very very low water pressure. Check the aerators and they were full of debris. My client had mentioned that the workers who were pouring the new driveway had hit an irrigation line, my initial step in the diagnostic phase was to replace the PRV, which had been limiting flow due to a strainer full of debris. The PRV was old enough to warrant replacement. After replacing the PRV and installing a shut off valve as a courtesy. I noticed that the water pressure was marginally better but still a problem. After some troubleshooting, I’ve come to the conclusion that there is a break in the water service line, but could not find any leaks. I can hear the water meter running but cannot get the display to show any numbers. My client opted for leak detection search to verify that the leak we are experiencing is on the water service and is not an additional irrigation issue. From there, we will opt for a water service replacement. Current water serv

The customer had an issue with the main level Ing up. I did Inspection through the toilet. This shut off out to the toilet did not work, meaning I had to shut off water to the whole home to do this process. Next, I realize that the toilet flange was just inserted into cast-iron (improperly done), the cast-iron was so rigid The camera would go 45 feet before stopping. There was large amounts of scale buildup inside the cast-iron with sections of belly. Given the agent condition of cast-iron it is time to replace it with pvc. A quote was provided to re-pipe the crawlspace from cast-iron over to PVC.

The bare minimum basic repairs to get the system running today. Customer has 1 y/o Daikin Fit system that operates main level. Concerns were of lack of humidity on main level. Noticed that media filter was very dirty, which can cause airflow issues and affect humidity levels. Replaced Model 410 media filter. Also, noticed that humidifier canister had sludge buildup in it. Although humidifier did not give notice of replacement period, rplwceing canister should be considered. Rinsed canister out. Informed customer of findings. System is currently working.

After conducting her diagnosis I noticed that the customer had improper connectors at the electrical panel and had an improper ground bar connection for the lug. It is my recommendation to replace the electrical panel and have it installed properly with a licensed electrician and have a permit pool so it can be added to the record of the property. When we do so we will ensure that all connectors are properly installed, and the customer has a proper ground bar connection point as well as a proper grounding system. We will also install whole home surge protection and interconnected smoke detectors as a requirement from Peachtree corners authority having jurisdiction. The existing box behind the refrigerator was fallen into the wall, and I cannot properly fasten the device to it without installing a new slider box at this location.

Everything was working fine.

I previously worked with TE Certified for an electrical repair and was pleased with their service. This was my first time contacting them for HVAC work and I worked with Albert Nah. I was impressed by the level of professionalism and expertise Albert brought to the visit. He completed a detailed diagnostic of my system, explained his findings clearly, and laid out all of my options in a way that made sense—no pressure, just honest guidance based on what the equipment actually needed and what my choices were. He identified issues that were overlooked by others, clarified what was necessary versus optional, and helped me understand both the immediate repairs and longer-term preventative steps. He was organized and transparent throughout. Additionally, to support his assessment and recommendations, he shared photographs of my equipment and gauge readings. His explanations were thorough and demonstrated a real depth of knowledge. It’s rare to meet a technician who delivers this level of clarity and integrity. TE Certified will continue to be who I call for major home system repairs.
